Since August, 2001 the SISE project has offered assistance and
support to a variety of Central New York area organizations. Much of
our work is confidential in nature and we are obliged by
research ethics not to release the names of our partner organizations
unless they have agreed to publicly acknowledge their partnerships
with the SISE project and Syracuse University. The projects we have
undertaken have occurred in approximately 25 Central New York
organizations and have included the following activities:
 | Network Assessment |
 | Technology vendor research |
 | Request for Proposals Development |
 | Organizational Development |
 | Database Design and Development |
 | New System Deployment Feedback |
 | Organizational Security Assessment |
Our current project, the Secure Business Initiative (SBI) focuses
on the latter activity. Organizations that partner with the SISE
project on an SBI Organizational Security Assessment can take
advantage of the following project offerings:
 | Interviews with key stakeholders and decision makers to
articulate the organization's security priorities |
 | Network Architecture Assessment to understand strengths and
opportunities for improvement to technical security facilities |
 | Rapid Response Employee Survey to provide input on employees'
beliefs and expectations about security preparedness |
 | Assistance with selection and deployment of vulnerability
scanning tools that the organization's IT staff can use to uncover
database, web, remote access, wireless and other technical
vulnerabilities in IT operations |
 | Analysis, recommendation, and assistance with development and
deployment of security-related organizational policies |
 | Development of criteria and candidate lists for vendors of
security services and products |
 | Provision of a comprehensive report on the organization's
strengths and development opportunities with respect to
information security, e-commerce, and related areas |
